I'm not saying it's fast in the drags or anything (1800 lb vehicle with only 112 hp? haha) but I am very pleased with how it dunes now. It practically jumps on plane now and zips around everywhere. Moral of the story.Paddles, 4wd, and lower air pressure are spectacular. I chickened out with the 8 psi but did take it down to 10 psi. He told me to run in 4wd (yes paddles in the rear and knobbies up front) and with the tires at 8 psi. I know that doesn't make him an authority but he seemed to know a thing or two and since all my experience was in cycles I figured I'd give his recommendations a try. The guy next to us seemed to sorta know what he was talking about (his group had 3 Tatum Sandcars and several other rails with LS motors). It was significantly better and I was pretty happy with my purchase until. ![]() Second was with the paddles and in rear wheel drive. I spent my 20's and 30's driving around on CR 500's so I know how to pick lines in the sand but the initial experience in the YXZ was underwhelming. Flowing and conserving momentum was very helpful. It's fun but I was having to drive efficiently to go in the big dunes. I ran the setup three different ways over the weekend and boy was it a difference.įirst was stock tires in 4x4 with factory air pressure. Second trip was with the Skat Trak 26x12.5-14 with 8 paddles (still stock yxz). First trip was only stock Bighorns on a totally stock YXZ. ![]() I did two trips out to Glamis this winter. So as a followup to my post above I wanted to let you all know what I learned.
